Adapt: Day 3

“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 NRSV

Thought

When you grieve, you may ask, “Where do I fit in life?” The dangling, pain-filled end of the question implies, “. . . without my loved one.” Socially you may feel that you are perceived as “less than” because of the absence of the one lost to you in death. Through attrition you may be demoted involuntarily to the status of “second-class citizen”—someone who is not accorded a fair share of respect, recognition, or consideration. Being marginalized may create a sense of vulnerability and weakness. God’s Word assures you that there is a perfect power greater than your weakness.

Prayer

God, there is no greater gift than your grace—your unearned, unmerited, and undeserved love. In the vulnerability of my grief, I pray for your power to be made perfect in my weakness. Amen.

Assurance

When I reject inferior labels, I affirm my place in the world.
