Confidence: Day 4

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.
Psalm 43:5 NRSV

Thought

In hope you may yet experience a silent, inner struggle to move from the defensiveness of grief to the quiet confidence of living forward. It is difficult to imagine or even reckon with the moment when the worst of grief is over and behind you—when every breath is no longer one of sorrow for your loved one. You reach the other side of the valley of the shadow of death when grief as an embedded, familiar mode of thinking and being slowly begins to feel stiff and stifling.

Prayer

God, there are moments when I am easily downcast, still disturbed by death and grief. I hope in your help and praise you, my God. Amen.

Assurance

In the will to hope I find the strength to live and the courage to die.
