Only be strong and very courageous.
Joshua 1:7 NRSV
Acts of brute courage require bravery to defeat the persistent fears of grief. When you succeed at bravery, you feel as though you deserve a medal or some outward acknowledgment of your courage. You find that your strength is renewed as you courageously venture from your place of pervasive woundedness to gradually rejoin the world.
God, to be very courageous I need your unfailing strength. May I live with the courage of faith enlarged by grief. Amen.
Courage and strength are the inseparable allies of my faith.
