Despair: Day 2

Insults have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
Psalm 69:20 NRSV

Thought

Death is an insult that breaks the human heart. The death of your loved one has left you bereft, perhaps in complete despair. Is pity really what you desire in grief? No, you seek the Comforter to lead you away from despair and teach you again of hope.

Prayer

God, death has broken my heart. In the grace of your love I know that you pity the frailty of my despair. May I hope in your comfort. Amen.

Assurance

I will forsake despair and learn again of hope.
