Experience: Day 5

If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
Matthew 6:23 NRSV

Thought

You have the power to direct your grief as you direct the light. Whether your grief is still profound heartache or now more about acceptance than pain, a dark corner of the heart forever quietly swirls with questions of life and death. Finding the light means managing the darkness. Unlike gradations of light, dark is dark. In darkness there is only darkness. When you block the light and instead choose darkness, you become a holiday victim. Seek the light.

Prayer

God, in grief I live more in darkness than in light. In this Christmas season I pray that you will illuminate the darkness of my heart and spirit with your light. Amen.

Assurance

In darkness there is no light.
