Grief is Life - Preparation

Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life .
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NIV

Thought

Though grief is an inevitable part of life, no one grieves in the same way or at the same pace. Your grief is personal; it cannot be neatly confined to a set number of weeks or months. You grieve as long as you must grieve. Yet one day, someday, you find yourself unexpectedly at the end of the grief journey, wavering between the past and the future. This is the moment when you decide emphatically to choose life. You rejoin life in the fullness for which God created you. You honor the steadfast love and faithfulness of God when you resolve to live the rest of the life that is yours, empowered by your own extraordinary gifts of grief.

Prayer

God, you are my life. I love you. Through the long journey of grief I have listened to your voice and held fast to you. I give thanks that because of your unfailing grace I now am ready to live again. Amen.

Assurance

Choose life!
