He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him. Daniel 2:22b NRSV

Thought

Rather than end the relationship with your loved one, death creates a new relationship. This eternal bond is not one of physical presence but of memory, spirit, and love. The daily challenge of grief is seeking the light of your loved one’s spirit rather than abiding in the darkness of death. God is light, and in God there is no darkness at all.

Prayer

God, you alone know what is in the darkness of my heart. I know that light dwells with you and in you. May your light illuminate the darkness of my grief. Amen.

Assurance

The light of faith is my strength, my hope, and my peace.
