Hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. Romans 5:5 NRSV

Thought

Because of God’s love, “hope does not disappoint.” Yet in the worst moments of grief, it feels almost impossible to hope. Those are the times you may ask, “Where is God’s love?” The message of hope echoes in your heart yet seems dissonant with the reality of life. Grief is the disappointment of unfulfilled dreams and plans. Hope is the ongoing nurture of fortitude and faithfulness.

Prayer

God, you pour your love into my heart through the Holy Spirit in the assurance that hope will never disappoint. Thank you for the wonder and promise of hope. Amen.

Assurance

Hope is my disappointment defeated.
