With everlasting love I will have compassion on you, says the LORD, your Redeemer. Isaiah 54:8 NRSV
Compassion is born of love. Grief urges you to greater compassion for the heartache of others. You model compassion in your spiritual reaction to life’s trials and tragedies, especially grief. Indeed, a heightened sense of compassion is a gift of grief. When you reach out in love with a heart fortified from within by your experience of grief, you show what God is like. You are a benefactor of compassion.
God, throughout grief you have shown me your everlasting love and compassion. As I move beyond my broken heart, may I serve you with compassion for others. Amen.
Love sustains hope.
