The fear of the LORD leads to life; then one rests content, untouched by trouble. Proverbs 19:23 NIV

Thought

What is contentment? Contentment is an emotional achievement of grief. It is the defeat of chronic upset, fear, and anxiety. If you think about the road on your journey through the valley of the shadow of death, there have been many stops along the way. Contentment is the final plateau on the way out of grief. For a while, it is a good enough place to be.

Prayer

God, in contentment I feel less touched by the trouble of death and grief. I honor you because I know that you are leading me back to life. Amen.

Assurance

My contentment is the prelude to my peace.
