You shall eat the fruit of the labour of your hands; you shall be happy, and it shall go well with you. Psalm 128:2 NRSV

Thought

As life unfolds beyond the broken heart, happiness is not an instantaneous state of undiluted pleasure. Slowly, your renewed energy begins to feel like happiness as life fills you again with the seeping warmth of hope. If what you experience is not exactly happiness, then perhaps it is peace merely waiting to grow and flourish.

Prayer

God, grief is a labor of love that bears fruit in happiness. I am grateful that life is better in the promise of your grace. Amen.

Assurance

The orchard of grief bears happiness for me.
