Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart. Psalm 32:11 NRSV

Thought

When you near the end of grief, you realize perhaps that you have neglected joy along the journey. Think about what joy really is, especially from the perspective of your experience of grief. It looks and feels different now, doesn’t it? You may need to devote spiritual energy to the awareness that is necessary to relearn joy. In grief this is re-joicing, remembering the glory of joy and making joy a habit. Consider joy, practice joy, look for joy.

Prayer

God, I recall the deep spiritual satisfaction of joy. I pray that I may at last shout again for joy. Amen.

Assurance

Soul joy is an active pursuit.
