As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you. Isaiah 66:13 NRSV

Thought

If you are a parent or if, as a child, you had someone in your life who poured out comfort to you, you have had the human experience of unconditional love. This is the love of God’s comfort for you as you grieve. God’s comfort goes beyond a promise. It is an absolute assurance of God’s understanding presence and all-embracing comfort and care for you, especially in grief. God will comfort you.

Prayer

God, I identify with a loving parent’s comfort poured out for a child in need. I am still that child in need of your comfort for my sorrowing soul. Amen.

Assurance

I know the warmth of God’s comforting love.
