When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them. Psalm 91:15 NRSV

Thought

The stress of grief can affect your physical health. A man in the hospital as the result of a heart attack received a call from a concerned staff member at his church. She asked whether the stress of grief for his recently deceased wife might be contributing to his condition. He had not seriously thought of this as a possibility. The question caused him to consider how grief might have physical consequences as well as its known effects on the spirit. God promises to deliver you. God promises to protect you. God promises to answer you. God promises to be with you in trouble. God knows the effect of stress as you grieve.

Prayer

God, I am grateful for your promise to rescue me. Today life is especially stressful because of the death of my loved one. You honor me with your faithfulness; I trust you to satisfy my soul. Amen.

Assurance

God answers when I call.
