Occasions: Remembrance Day

If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.
Romans 14:8 NRSV

Thought

The day on which your loved one died is a date forever etched in your heart. The first year you observe this day of days—and perhaps on others yet to come—may be tearful and sorrowful. Perhaps you struggle still with guilt or regret. As days turn into weeks and weeks into months, the year goes by and life goes on. But you never forget. Sadness one day turns into grateful, warm memories of the one lost to you in death.

Prayer

God, you assure me that, in Christ, my loved one yet lives. I give you thanks for the promise of eternal life and pray that you will comfort me yet again on this remembrance day. Amen.

Assurance

There is life after death.
