Prayer: Day 1

Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.
Jeremiah 29:12 NRSV

Thought

Perhaps you have realized that one of the most confusing spiritual aspects of grief is prayer. When your emotions are in turmoil, usually your mind is in chaos. Likely your thoughts are a jumble of anything and everything imaginable. You want to pray, yet you cannot find that peaceful place from within to offer your broken heart to God. Because you are consumed by grief, it is difficult to focus the mind and spirit to pray. The random prayers of grief make perfect sense to God.

Prayer

God, I come to you with a heart in need of prayer. When I call upon you, I know that you hear, even when my prayers are fleeting and confused. Amen.

Assurance

Within my silence there is prayer; within my prayer there is faith.
