Stress: Day 2

So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 NRSV

Thought

Grief causes stress on your mind, body, heart, and soul. Stress is often an involuntary response to anything that upsets your personal balance. The death of your loved one is likely among the most stressful experiences of your life. Stress disrupts your emotions with its irrationality and insistence. Yet you are assured that stress is but a slight momentary affliction to be endured while your inner nature is being renewed day by day.

Prayer

God, it is almost impossible to imagine an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure. In your strength may I look to that which cannot be seen, that which is eternal, for relief from the affliction of my grief. Amen.

Assurance

I do not lose heart.
