Stress: Day 7

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Psalm 73:26 NRSV

Thought

Stress is the scientific principle of physics that explains elasticity, which allows matter to resume its original size and shape after being compressed or stretched by an external force. Grief forces you to stretch, almost to the breaking point. The principle of elasticity applies to grief: compressed or stretched by the effect of death, your spirit, in time, resumes its form and shape. Today, rest from the stress of daily life. God is the strength of your heart.

Prayer

God, when life overflows with the stress of grief, it feels as if my body and my heart may fail. May I rest in the strength of your heart today and not in my own. Amen.

Assurance

Today I rest in the certainty that God is forever.
