You are jealous for something you can’t get, so you struggle and fight. You don’t have because you don’t ask.
James 4:2 CEB
In grief, what you may desire most is to have your life back. You want what is permanently gone, that which will never again be restored to your life. The struggle and fight are likely within yourself. Perhaps you struggle silently with God, reluctant to ask for God’s help in your lonely uphill struggle through grief. Struggle is normal in grief and leads to growth beyond grief.
God, I struggle and fight a daily war within myself. I know that you are not the enemy. You are my one true ally. I ask for your leadership as I concede the battle and fight only the good fight toward life in you. Amen.
As I struggle through grief, I grow spiritually toward life.
