Confidence: Day 1

“The LORD is my portion” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
Lamentations 3:24-26 NRSV

Thought

On some level, the death of your loved one perhaps has imperiled your self-confidence. Hope engenders confidence as you master the realities of daily life. Your confidence, once lost to grief, returns as you learn new modalities of independence. It is no longer dismal to eat alone; you are comfortable in your own company. You provide for yourself; there is satisfaction in business management or earning a living. You care for yourself; you pay attention to your medical needs and honor your body. Confidence surges when your life is more about hope than about grief.

Prayer

God, from the depths of a grateful heart I hope in you. You renew my confidence in life with your goodness. My soul seeks you. I wait for you. Amen.

Assurance

In hope my spirit wants to “start fresh.”
