Confusion: Day 5
. . . calamity overtakes you like a storm
. . . disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind
. . . distress and trouble overwhelm you.
Proverbs 1:27 NIV
Thought
Death feels like a calamity, indeed, the very worst sort of natural disaster. Confusion is at the eye of the storm of death. It is the whirlwind within your mind and spirit. Confusion sweeps into your well-ordered life when distress and trouble overwhelm you. For a while you take cover, hide, and wait for the storm to pass, knowing that the landscape of life is forever altered by death. You weather the storm because God’s abiding presence never changes.
Prayer
God, I am overwhelmed by the forces of death and grief. In your mercy, shelter me while I wait for the confusion of grief to pass. Amen.
Assurance
Storms do not last forever. This storm will pass.
