Contentment: Day 3

Be content with what you have; for he has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 NRSV

Thought

Though you still may feel lonely or alone, at last you are growing accustomed to the physical absence of the one lost to you in death. Grief may still wash over you from time to time, yet it cannot drown you again with its pain and sorrow. The certainty of life after death and life beyond death both assures and comforts your healing heart. Your quiet contentment honors the living memory your loved one.

Prayer

God, I am content because I know that you never leave me or forsake me. Your presence sustains my faith and hope. Amen.

Assurance

My contentment is a sure sign that I am healing.
