“Keep up your courage!”
Acts 23:11 NRSV
It is one thing to have a moment of bravery or an isolated experience of courage, but it is quite another to actually keep up your courage—that is, to live in the sustained courage that becomes not only a habit but also a way of life. Grief is among the most discouraging passages of life. Reclaimed courage is a triumph of faith.
God, I long to live in sustained courage so that every day is a victory over grief. Thank you for the encouragement of exclamation. Amen.
When I keep up my courage, I live in faith.
