Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, For the help of His presence.
Psalm 42:5 NASB
Grief is about so many questions: “Why?” “Why me?” “Why didn’t God answer my prayers for healing?” “Why did this have to happen?” “Why did he or she have to die (and not me)?” “How can I go on without my loved one?” These are the questions of despair that disturb and roil your soul. Answers are elusive—some you figure out by logic and reasoning; some become clear over time. For others, there simply are no answers. Hope in God.
God, in your infinite grace, you answer me and save me from despair. I praise you, for you are my help and my God. Amen.
Because God is my hope and my help, I am stronger than I even imagine.
