Emotional: Day 5

When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
1 Corinthians 15:54 NRSV

Thought

For some, it may take several years to work through profound loss and grief. This is the “no end in sight” emotional turmoil that requires the insight of a professional. For others, there may be a defining moment such as remarriage or the birth of a child that clearly signifies the end of grief. Because your emotions do not conform to life’s infrastructure, you alone will know when grief no longer demands the investment of your heart. Grief does not last a lifetime.

Prayer

God, through the promise of eternal life you assure me that death has been swallowed up in victory. Thank you for an imperishable and immortal soul. Amen.

Assurance

I will know when my grief is at an end.
