Eternity: Day 6

We look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18 NRSV

Thought

Though you cannot prove it, likely you have had evidence of the abiding spiritual presence of your loved one in some way that affirms the reality of the unseen. Perhaps something occurred that you know without question was an unmistakable sign or signal that you alone would understand. Its power and force affirmed to you the real, eternal presence of your loved one. For now, the reality of the unseen is a mystery. It is God’s mystery of life and death. God’s unseen reality is eternal life, which is the very promise of faith. “By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible” (Hebrews 11:3 NRSV).

Prayer

God, may I look in faith to that which cannot be seen, to all that is eternal in you. I am grateful for the reality of the unseen that strengthens my faith and heart. Amen.

Assurance

By faith I believe in the unseen reality of eternal life.
