When the angels appeared to the shepherds, they were at first incredulous and then overcome with fear. After the moment of announcement, awe, and wonder, they talked it over and decided to go see what it all meant. They knew with simple certainty that God was the bearer of this extraordinary good news. They did not know what to expect, but they were willing to make the effort to get to the manger.
