When you attune your inmost heart to the gifts of grief, you discern with gratitude every manifestation of God’s faithfulness. God is faithful; God continuously protects you. God watches over you, especially if you live alone—perhaps for the first time in life. God is faithful; God gives you an extra measure of strength and forbearance. You ask yourself in amazement, “How did I do that?” “Did I really accomplish that?” The faithfulness of God blesses you and keeps you safe forever.
