Grief is Growth - Perspective

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
2 Peter 3:18 NIV

Thought

The directional arrow on a prominently displayed sign indicates that a neighborhood church has moved a few blocks north. It proclaims, “We’ve grown. We’ve moved.” Simple words convey the message. With the death of your loved one, something happened that causes you to grow and move not only away from the past but also into that which is new. You grow each day into life here and now—life that is shaped by the past, life that contemplates the future with hope. Like the words on the sign, your life declares, “I’ve grown. I’ve moved.”

Prayer

God, all praise and glory is yours, now and forever, for grace and knowledge in Christ. Thank you for nurturing me in my spiritual growth through grief. Amen.

Assurance

I am growing away from the past, into the present, and forward unto the future.
