Healing: Day 2

Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
Isaiah 58:8-9 NIV

Thought

The best analogy for healing in grief is the human body. When you have a physical injury, it causes a finite wound. In most cases the damage is reparable; the wound is treated with the expectation of healing. Death wounds your human soul and spirit; it causes you to grieve. For some, the wound is immeasurable—so deep that healing seems impossible. For others, the wound is less severe. Like any physical injury, the wound of grief must be taken seriously. Honest, accurate assessment facilitates its treatment, both mentally and spiritually. Most wounds of the body can be healed. All wounds of the soul can be healed.

Prayer

God, I wait for your light in the expectation of healing. In grief, my cry has been to you for help. In healing, I hear your voice, “Here am I.” Amen.

Assurance

The larger my wound, the deeper my love for the one I have lost.
