“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Matthew 6:11 NRSV
The actual holiday is just one day, twenty-four hours. For weeks on end, life is pressured by commercial, social, and spiritual suggestions that demand a larger-than-life experience of the holiday. Inflamed by the secular world, intense emotions overlay grief for what seems an interminable holiday season. The holiday itself is just one day. Put the day in perspective. Live only in this day.
God, you do not ask me to live more than one day at a time. I am grateful for your daily provision for my life and soul. Amen.
I will stay in the moment that is today.
