Holidays: Day 7

Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for him.
Psalm 37:7 KJV

Thought

Take time for yourself on holidays—time to reflect, time to remember, time to forget. Let others know that they are not responsible for making you happy. Even if your loved one would want you to be happy, you do not have to be happy. Being happy, however, does not deny your grief for your loved one. When one day life returns more to happiness, holidays will be easier to manage. The experience of most people who are grieving is that eventually they do enjoy the holidays again.

Prayer

God, I would like to speed through rather than wait patiently for your lessons of grief at the holidays. On this day of rest may my soul wait for you. Amen.

Assurance

I will remember to rest; the holidays are emotionally and physically draining.
