Why do you pray? You pray because God asks you to share your inmost being through prayer. You pray because God cares for you, because God is interested in every detail of your life. You pray not to enlighten God but to discern the mind of God. Prayer draws you closer to God; it deepens your relationship with God. It is a humbling moment of grief when prayer reminds you that you are dependent on God and not on yourself.
