Suffering: Day 6

And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.

Thought

God calls you to draw near in order to restore, support, and strengthen you in your physical and spiritual suffering. Suffering invites you to place your hurt in larger hands, in God’s hands. It may be in suffering that you determine whether your faith is a superficial ornament of life or the essential foundation on which all of life is built. Your suffering may be the source of some of the great revelations of life.

Prayer

God, what is “a little while”? Thank you for the assurance that my suffering will one day be over. Support and strengthen me this day, I pray. Amen.

Assurance

Suffering may leave an indelible mark on my soul because it is part of the human experience.
