Victimization: Day 1

But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.
Psalm 10:14 NIV

Thought

Victimization may be a place on the journey through grief where you reside for a while. With the death of your loved one, you become a victim through no action of your own. Because death is permanent loss, all you love and hold dear may seem irreparably damaged. You feel helpless against the effect of death on your life because your emotional, physical, and spiritual reserves are compromised and drained by the demands of grief. For a while you are a victim, focused only on the pain of grief. But as your helper, God takes your grief in hand.

Prayer

God, I am afflicted; you see my trouble. I commit myself to your care. You are my helper, the helper of all who grieve. Amen.

Assurance

God holds my grief in large, capable hands.
