Victimization: Day 5

Then David rose from the ground, washed, anointed himself, and changed his clothes. He went into the house of the LORD, and worshiped; he then went to his own house; and when he asked, they set food before him and he ate.

Thought

David reached the turning point in victimization. After he was told that the child was dead, he took action. He got up from the ground. David then anointed himself with lotion and put on some fresh clothes. He took time to take care of himself. He took the first step to prepare for the rest of his life without his beloved child. In that moment he moved from victim to survivor.

Prayer

God, the inertia of victimization sustains my grief. Like David, may I have the spiritual strength to worship you from my wounded heart. Amen.
